Using Bush visit for debate fodder
Michael Blauw came to President Bush's speech hoping to gain an edge in a national competition. Blauw, a 16-year-old sophomore, is one of 18 people on East Grand Rapids High School 's We The People Team, which debates constitutional issues. The team won the state competition in January and next week represents Michigan in Washington , D.C.
"We're really hoping for something we can use in the competition," Blauw said before the speech. "I don't think too many teams are getting an audience with the president of the United States the week before."
